First Generation Programs

Gateway Scholars Program

The Gateway Scholars Program provides a comprehensive set of services and institutional support to those students who come to UCI through various educational partnerships. This program is by invitation only; students will be contacted if eligible. 

TRIO Scholars

TRIO Scholars provides first-generation, low-income, students with disabilities, and/or undocumented students a personal guide and a roadmap to success.

ISEP

The Freshman Summer Success Program

The Freshman Summer Success Program (FSSP) is crafted to facilitate a seamless academic and social transition for incoming UCI students with four different pathways to meet students’ needs.

Summer Bridge Scholarship Program

Summer Bridge Scholars participate in the Freshman Summer Success Program and enjoy access to programs and services as well as benefits including priority registration during their freshman year.

DREAM Scholars Program

The DREAM Scholars Program is designed to provide undocumented students with academic guidance and social support to enable their academic success and holistic development.

Distinguished Scholars Program

The Distinguished Scholars Program supports the retention of students who receive the Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarship. This program is by invitation only; students will be contacted if eligible.

FYRE

FYRE is an academic success program to aid former foster youth in their transition to university life.

Umoja

Umoja (a Kiswahili word meaning unity) is a community and critical resource dedicated to enhancing the cultural and educational experiences of African American and other students. The Umoja Pilot Program serves and promotes student success for its students by promoting pedagogy and programming responsive to the legacy of the African and African American Diasporas to ensure the retention, matriculation, and graduation for program participants.
